Welcome, my friend, to my creative corner of the internet.

Hey there, I’m Jessica, the face behind Simply Writing. This is a space for writers, dreamers, and anyone who enjoys the creative process, though they may not necessarily be creators themselves.

Simply Writing will appeal to readers who:

  • Crave creativity, either as a hobby or as a way of life.

  • Loves books, movies, and series not just for entertainment purposes but for helping them understand their own journeys.

  • Struggle with self-doubt, societal pressure, and the constant question of whether they’re “doing it right.”

  • Are searching for a sense of belonging in a world that often makes them feel like they’re falling behind.

  • Interested in digital minimalism and breaking free from the algorithm trap.

  • Value mindfulness, not as a trendy buzzword, but as a practical tool for managing stress, finding clarity, and reconnecting with their creative spark.

  • Long for genuine connection in an era where everything else feels curated and performative.

A little more about me

I’m a New Jersey-based writer with a passion for exploring themes of self-discovery, authenticity, and growth. Combining an engaging, honest, and thought-provoking style with my love of storytelling, I encourage readers to reflect on their own journeys and embrace their true selves without apology.

I have a B.A. in English/Creative Writing and was selected to attend the Northern California Writers Retreat in 2020. I am a founding member of Quill & Cup, an all-female writing community where I lead monthly goal reviews and the occasional writing-related workshop.

My writing has appeared in Craft Better Books, The Big Smoke, Writing and Wellness, Fangoria, and House Digest. I recently finished a memoir about my asexual journey and am now working on a contemporary novel with speculative elements.

Currently, I am a Communications Coordinator for a charter school organization as well as a freelance copywriter and blogger. I am training for certifications in journal therapy and book coaching, furthering my dedication to helping others grow creatively and personally.

What’s in store if you decide to subscribe?

Simply Writing is a weekly newsletter where I share essays, poems, and reflections about:

  • The creative life and its joys, doubts, and breakthroughs.

  • Book, movie, and series reviews (more personal than critical).

  • Being asexual in a sexualized world and the way identity shapes our stories.

  • My writing process (what worked, what hasn’t, and what keeps me going).

  • Poetry on life, creativity, and the in-between moments.

  • Digital minimalism and how it impacts my day-to-day.

  • Mindfulness tips for creatives, such as practices for staying grounded.

  • Life, in general.

Please, do not hesitate to comment or share how my words might have resonated with you. You’re never bothering a writer if you tell them how much their work means to you. It’s fuel for us to keep doing what we do, so comment away. Or you can always buy us a coffee. ☕️

Right now, this space is completely free, though I may introduce a paid option in the future for exclusive content like short stories or deeper writing insights. Until then, your support, whether through reading, sharing, or engaging with my work, is greatly appreciated.

If you’re looking for a place that honors the magic of creativity and the oftentimes struggle of, well, living, you’re in the right place.

I look forward to having you join the community.
